July 23, 2021 | Delta Variant Detected in Provincetown Cluster

The Massachusetts Department of Public Health (DPH) today announced that genetic sequencing of initial samples associated with the recent COVID-19 cluster in Provincetown tested positive for the Delta variant. The total number of cases among vaccinated people in Massachusetts remains extremely low, at 0.1% or 5,166 cases out of over 4.3 million fully vaccinated residents, and nearly all of these cases do not result in hospitalization or death.

July 19, 2021 | Provincetown Residents and Visitors Urged to Take Precautions Due to Uptick of COVID-19 Cases (Updated with Spanish & Portuguese Versions July 22, 2021)

Following the 4th of July weekend, there was an increase in positive COVID-19 cases in Provincetown in addition to individuals reporting COVID-like symptoms. COVID-19 infection has occurred in both vaccinated and unvaccinated individuals. As of Friday July 16, 132 confirmed positive cases of COVID-19 had been officially reported to the Massachusetts Department of Public Health associated with the Provincetown cases. Of these cases, 89 are Massachusetts residents, 39 of which reside in Barnstable County. The remainder of individuals who tested positive reside in other states or jurisdictions outside of Massachusetts. Case investigation is ongoing, and the numbers are likely to change as the situation evolves.

July 21, 2021 | Provincetown Response to COVID-19 Cases Ongoing

With response to COVID-19 cases in Provincetown ongoing, public health surveillance has identified additional cases associated with the cluster that prompted the Town of Provincetown and the Barnstable County Department of Health and Environment to issue a public health advisory earlier in the week. As case investigations progress, municipal, county, and state health officials have expanded access to safe and reliable COVID-19 testing and vaccination through Friday, July 30.
