In cooperation with the local Public Health
Departments on Cape Cod, the Barnstable County Department of Health and the
Environment will conduct weekly surveillance of the water quality at over
250 public beaches on Cape Cod during the 2008 summer bathing season. To access
a town by town directory of public marine and freshwater beaches, click here
or on the above navigation button "Directory of Beach Water Quality by
Town". The weekly tests ensure that any changes in water quality are
rapidly detected and, when appropriate, warnings may be posted. In addition
to the regular testing, staff from the Barnstable County Department of Health
and the Environment are conducting extensive surveys to look for, document,
and correct any potential sources of contamination.
If you have any questions regarding a particular
beach, click on the above navigation buttons to examine a town-by-town listing
of public beaches and more information regarding testing results and parameters.
Also, you can contact the local health department of any of the 15 towns for
even more information. Don't forget to bookmark this page so you can examine
the weekly water quality of your favorite beach before leaving your house!
